Challenge

Security teams at airports, entertainment venues, distribution centers, and many other high-traffic areas need a safe and efficient way to deter theft and ensure that people don’t bring prohibited items into public areas.

Solution

Thruvision’s people-screening technology can detect items hidden under clothing by measuring the thermal energy emitted by the human body. Intel RealSense Depth Camera D435 captures optical images and depth information about objects in the scene, over which a THz (thermal) image is overlaid.

Results

Thruvision removes the need for physical “pat-downs” and other types of close proximity searches such as walk-through metal detectors and body scanners, allowing security officers to efficiently screen people from a safe distance.

The Need for Effective, Discreet, High-throughput Screening

How it works

Thruvision integrates Intel RealSense Depth Camera D435 to capture optical images and depth information. This data is processed with terahertz signals through sensor fusion, providing precise 3D information for accurate detection.

Thruvision uses AI algorithms to remove background distractions, enhancing focus on screening tasks. Depth information from Intel RealSense cameras bridges the optical and terahertz imaging domains, increasing detection accuracy and operator productivity.

Enhanced focus and privacy

By removing distractions and irrelevant background elements, operators can concentrate on monitoring individuals passing through the screening lane. Additionally, privacy is preserved by blurring the faces of screened individuals. Thruvision’s SmartFocus technology, using depth information and AI algorithms, defines the outline of the person being screened and treats all other elements as removable background.
